The Arizona Cardinals announced several roster changes on Saturday afternoon, including the activation of return-nominated defensive lineman Zach Allen.
Allen hasn’t played since Week 7 when he injured his ankle. The lineman has 11 tackles, two for a loss, 1.0 sack and four QB hits in seven games (two starts) this season.
Allen’s return will help a defensive line that has been plagued with injury.
Defensive lineman Josh Mauro (hamstring) was placed on the injured list on Saturday, joining teammates Jordan Phillips and Leki Fotu. Defensive lineman Corey Peters is out for the season, as is pass thrower Chandler Jones.
The Cardinals have also signed tight end Evan Baylis in the active roster of the practice squad.
Baylis has played four games for Arizona this season, most recently against the Seahawks. The 27-year-old has previously played for the Green Bay Packers and the Houston Texans.
In a corresponding move, tight end Darrell Daniels (ankle) was placed on the injured list.
Defensive lineman Michael Dogbe, running back DJ Foster and cornerback Jace Whittaker have been promoted to the training squad’s active roster as COVID-19 replacements.
Foster (ASU) and Whittaker (Arizona) are non-draft state collegiate products, while Dogbe was a Temple seventh round pick in 2019.
In a final move, the Cardinals elevated defensive lineman Stacy McGee to the practice squad’s active roster in a standard rise.
McGee, now in his eighth season in the NFL, has appeared in 79 games in his career and recorded 118 total tackles, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 15 QB hits. The defensive lineman signed with the Cardinals training team on Tuesday after playing for Oakland (2013-16), Washington (2017-18) and Carolina (2019).
