Hy-Vee dieticians offer virtual nutrition classes for families focused on teaching their children healthy eating habits. Amanda Jochum is a parent and a Hy-Vee dietitian. He said the most important thing is to introduce the kids to the kitchen and make them comfortable with where to find things. “They became more familiar with the kitchen, and they started making healthier food choices when they became more involved,” Jochum said. Hy-Vee offers programs for Junior Chefs and Little Chefs. They are designed to familiarize children and toddlers with the kitchen and develop cooking skills such as pouring, mixing and measuring. During the programs, they learn simple recipes for snacks after school.
