United Way Harvest Algoma Community Kitchen Cook

United Way’s Harvest Algoma is a hub for access to additional food in the District of Algoma. We receive food donations of all sizes at our food resource center, then process and distribute them throughout the community to over 45 partner social service agencies. We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Cook to work alongside our Chefs in the supervision and execution of all tasks related to food processing and preparation. The ideal candidate has experience working in commercial kitchens and is passionate about community food safety.

Job responsibilities and requirements
– Ability to be motivated and to work independently
– Ability to move and lift up to 40 lbs. Standing and sitting for long periods
– Ensure a clean and professional appearance
– Preparation and processing of ingredients (chopping, peeling, portioning, labeling)
– Wash the dishes
– General kitchen and food storage area cleaning tasks
– Follow established policies, procedures and standards
Qualifications
– Positive attitude
– Must have a safe food handling certificate
– The previous kitchen experiences a huge advantage
– Excellent verbal communication skills
Program
– From Monday to Friday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., as soon as possible, until March 31, 2022
Compensation
– Starting salary $ 17.00 / h
